809 Hwy 62/65 NorthHarrison, AR 72601| Have You Been Flocked? |

While I have always been pleased to participate in fundraising for vairous organizations, it is only recently that I had an opportunity to be pushed into a fun new experience that benfits the Susan G. Komen organization. Yes. I was flocked. I have heard about the process, but I had never personally experienced it. "What is being flocked?" you may ask. Someone chose me to be the recipient of no less than three dozen pink flamingos that were placed throughout my yard. This may sound silly, but I can assue you it is a fun experience. I cannot tell you how many people actually took photos of our house or slowed to see the new and odd choice of yard decor. I was certainly surprised when my three-year-old asked why there were a bunch of pink ducks (remember she is three) in our yard. After I got up to take a took, I realized that I had been flocked. The basic process is for someone to send the "flock" of flamingos to my home. In addition to the flock, I received a note explaining that I had been flocked. In order to remove the flock, I could donate to the organization and send the flock to a friend of my chosing. (Sorry Mel, your yard was just beging for them). Additionally, you can donate extra amounts in order to reveal your flocker or for various other options. Again, this is a fun experience that helps an amazing organization. So, if you happen to be driving down the street wondering why someone has chosen pink flamingos for yard decor, remember that they will soon be helping a good cause. With so many people in need, I strongly encourage everyone to spread their help among multiple organizations or causes. While you may not have and may never be directly affected by this disease, I can assure you that you know someone who has or will someday be impacted by this devastating experience. With that in mind, I encourage everyone to help this organization and their pursuit of a cure. Check this issue for a few events that are targeted to help the Susan G. Komen organization and watch future issues for more opportunites to help this and many other groups. |
