What in the world is BOCODOD? Well, BOCODOD is short for something, but it is so much more than that. Just bear with me.

Now that we have sold advertising for several months in Boone County, we can gage our success by the simple fact that you are still reading us. It worked. The Boone County Spotlight is here, and we are not leaving. Well, sort of. While the complete embrace of every business in the county and the constant line out the door for new ads did not happen on day one (or day 158 for that matter), we are still improving and still growing.

We would like to thank those businesses that had the foresight and understanding of how we work to give us a try. They have seen the success of their partnership with the Spotlight.

I know you are still wondering about the whole BOCODOD thing, and we are getting there.

We honestly tried to operate a media company offering a product like never seen before at an amazing price. We coupled this with taking on the cost of direct mailing this product to every single person in the county, not only at home, but at their place of business. We wanted to create an advertising media that would make our fathers proud, but we also knew that our fathers’ newspapers had been done to death.

When I say death, I really mean it. We are bombarded with crime, death, politics, and corruption reported by the media every day. With that in mind, we want the Spotlight to be different. Well, it is. As we noted a couple of issues ago, we are not a newspaper, and you will not find the content of a newspaper in our publication. With that, we now want our idea to go one step further in bringing you a smile. How about daily?

Now, all other forms of print media in Harrison…you can take a collective sign of relief. We are not talking about another “daily” newspaper that does or does not come out every day of the week. We are talking about BOCODOD.

Again, you ask, “What in the world is BOCODOD?” Well, I will finally tell you. BOCODOD stands for Boone County Deal of the Day. At BOCODOD.com, you will find something fun, something cheap, and even something odd every day.

We decided that giving away a FREE publication with FREE classifieds was just not enough for us. We also had to create a website with a funny name where we could give away daily prizes, killer deals from local merchants, and (at least in the month of April) a grand prize worth over $500. Every day at BOCODOD, there will be a new deal and a new prize. Keep in mind that the deals are only for one day. If you miss today’s deal, it is over. Also, sometimes there will be a limited number of whatever the deal is, so get there daily and get there fast.
